Access to decent shelter is not a privilege — it is a fundamental human right. Yet in Kenya today, countless families live in inadequate housing, informal settlements, or conditions unfit for dignity. The Kenya Left Alliance (KLA) believes that every person, regardless of income or status, deserves a secure, livable home.
KLA’s Popular Housing Program envisions communities built not for profit, but for people. Through cooperative housing models, community land trusts, and participatory planning, the program seeks to place ownership and decision-making power back into the hands of ordinary citizens.
By mobilizing local builders, supporting environmentally sustainable materials, and advocating for state-backed social housing policies, KLA aims to transform housing from a commodity into a social good.
The Alliance’s commitment goes beyond bricks and mortar — it’s about restoring dignity, stability, and belonging. Building homes means building hope, and in every new community that rises, KLA sees the foundation of a more just and equal Kenya.

Kenya is at a unique inflection point where the Left can make significant wins over the coming years and even take the presidency with majorities in every legislative house by 2032.
