Principles of Unity

● Uniting leftist political parties, progressive individuals, organizations, and all those who demand democracy and justice for the people and a more equitable distribution of resources.
● Committed to building unity against capitalism, imperialism and neoliberalism.
● Uniting struggles for a better country and world without unemployment, poverty, war and oppression.
● Fronting the class for all those who are exploited, deprived and oppressed.
●KLA is anti-capitalism and imperialism in all its manifestations, such as colonialism, neo-colonialism, Zionism, military occupation, proxy wars, and economic embargoes and trade restrictions.
● KLA respects various modes of organization among its affiliate organizations and groups.
● KLA will stand in solidarity with anti-imperialist and neoliberal resistance all over the world.

Membership

• Membership in the Kenya Left Alliance comprises progressive organizations and individuals.
• Organizations, including leftist political parties, trade unions, students’ unions or similar working-class organizations that have joined the Alliance as a distinct entity.
• Individuals who are not members of any organization affiliated with the Kenya Leftist Alliance. Individual members will be considered as a single organization.
• Members will be expected to be engaged in five working teams:
Political education, Pan Africanism and International Solidarity, Resource mobilization, Conflict Resolution Mechanism, Security and Intelligence.
• Members will be required to sign a declaration form indicating their commitment to adhere to the four key pillars of the Alliance: Anti-capitalism, Anti-imperialism, Pan-Africanism and Feminism.

Annual Delegates Conference (ADC)

The ADC will be held annually. ADC will discuss pertinent issues and developments regarding the membership and the state of left politics in the country and globally.

National Delegates Congress (NDC)

• The National Delegates Congress (NDC) will be held every 5 years. Members of the National Steering Committee of KLA will be elected during the National Delegates Congress.
• A National Special Congress can be convened in agreement with at least two-thirds of the members of the National Steering Committee.
• The National Steering Committee will be the supreme organ for ratifying policies and strategic directions of the Kenya Left Alliance. This will include coordinating the alliance, financial obligations and fundraising, convening of meetings, communication, liaison with affiliate members, and other matters delegated to them by the Alliance as a whole.
• Each organization affiliated with KLA shall be entitled to one vote at the National Delegates Congress
• Individual members of KLA as a single organization will be entitled to one vote during the National Delegates Congress.

National Steering Committee (NSC)

• The National Steering Committee of KLA shall be comprised of the representatives of the member organizations of the KLA.
• The National Steering Committee shall establish a Coordinating Committee from among its membership.
• The Coordinating Committee shall be responsible for the day-to-day running of the KLA. It shall comprise the various officeholders of the KLA.
• The National Steering Committee shall have the mandate to establish Working Teams (WTs), Committees and Departments as desirable from among the membership to carry out its functions.
